Don’t hit send yet! Take some time to test variations of your messages. Here’s some pointers for ways you can test your messages in-house.
Tip #10:
Alternatives
Draft 2-3 different messages. Change only 1 piece of the message (either the visual component or the text). Then send these message variations out to a small portion of your audience.
Tip #11:
Benchmarks
Look up the benchmarks for your message. These data points will give you some idea of what an average response rate should look like. M+R firm shares key benchmarks in an annual report.
Tip #12:
Comparisons
Compare how your message alternatives performed to each other and the benchmark. Pick the best performing one and blast it out!
There are other ways to test sample messages. Test panels, focus groups and other methods can give you more detailed insight into how your message may be received.
