“It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
I’m a “do-er”. Been called a “do-gooder” a time or two (I don’t think it was meant as a compliment). My natural inclination is to jump into action.
But I’m also really into winning. And in order to win, you really need a plan. Spending some time to think through what you want to accomplish – and how to do it – is THE first step in developing a winning advocacy campaign.
So – without further ado, some free online tools to help you lay out your next advocacy campaign:
FREE: DIY Strategy Brief
Water Words that Work, Inc (Full-disclosure: they are a client) offers great online and in-person communications trainings (for a fee) and offers this Outreach Strategy Brief online template for free. It’s a google doc – so you can download , customize and fill out the parts of the document that you see fit.
FREE: Planning to Win®
Spitfire Strategies offers several planning tools and lots of resources. I’ve used the Planning to Win® guide before and found it really useful.
Not Free – but close to it:
The Midwest Academy offers its “Organizing for Social Change” manual for activists for sale online. They also offer trainings.
Custom Advocacy Planning
These tools are all great. But sometimes you need a custom plan, or need more people than you have on staff. That’s how Influence Advocacy can help you. We work together with you to create and implement custom advocacy plans.
